Couple
Therapy
Constant arguments, anxiety, walking on eggshells with each other, wondering what your partner is doing or thinking but being too scared to ask is draining for relationships. It leads to disconnect, fear and loneliness, making your love for each other burn down.
Together, we can understand your current relationship dynamics, explore where your relational patterns come from, and work on how you can come together again, defeating the distance that has been building. Let's find a way to nurture the flame of your love again.
To help with this, I use a variety of tools from emotionally focused and psychodynamic therapy to help you explore and understand your own underlying feelings as well as your partner’s.
I have experience in supporting couples with:
- Parenting and how it affects your relationship
- Partners struggling with mental health
- Anxiety or loneliness affecting one or both partners
- Couples navigating life with children who have additional needs
- Couples from multicultural backgrounds - how this affects your relationship and parenting values
- Partners with differences in values or beliefs
- Trust issues affecting your connection
- Emotional disconnection
- Communication struggles - not feeling heard or understood by your partner
Individual
Therapy
Going to work anxious about the day, replaying conversations in your head, looking for answers as to why you feel stressed, or sitting alone with complicated feelings, is not something you should be carrying on your own.
In one-to-one therapy, I offer a safe and exploratory environment where we can work together to understand what is going on for you. There is no judgement, no pressure, just a space for you to learn about yourself.
Many of the people I work with experience a lot of anxiety and are seeking to better understand their relationships with partners, family members, friends or themselves. Using psychodynamic approaches, we can explore how your inner world and past experiences have shaped you and how that affects your relationships.
I can support you with:
- Feeling low or overwhelmed
- Anxiety and worry
- Stress - at work, at home, or both
- Relationship difficulties with partners, family or friends
- Multicultural experiences and struggles
- Identity exploration
- Increasing emotional awareness
- Going through separation
Walk and Talk Therapy
For individual therapy, you may prefer to explore Walk and Talk therapy. Maybe conventional therapy, whether that is online or in person, seems a bit much at the moment. You might prefer to get your body moving while you talk, especially after sitting in an office all week.
Walk and talk therapy offers a different experience to the conventional therapy approaches. Surrounded by nature and gently moving your body can help reduce stress and anxiety and lift your mood. Maybe the simple act of walking forward alongside someone can create a sense of movement and possibility. You might leave some things behind you on the path, making some space to look towards your future.
Walking can help you feel more connected to your body. You might become aware of your breathing, bodily sensations, or thoughts and emotions. Walking side-by-side can feel more natural and less intense than sitting opposite someone in an office. The conversation can unfold at your own pace.
